The other's personality, though sometimes mischievous, is usually shown as light-hearted and friendly. This can however be contradicted by the other's capacity to be unusually cold or unaffected by stressful, upsetting or horrific situations that would turn the stomachs of most men. He is however known to be a good actor, so it is uncertain what emotions or true or what emotions he is simply good at hiding. His ability to be ruthless when the situation calls for it is indisputable, however.  
History
Dwyn Amherst was born in London before the war to a fairly well-off family. He was however a disappointment, a classic case of having all of the brains and none of the drive. The young man was a drop out and a drug abuser, seen as a dead end before he ever even reached his twenties. And also in cliche fashion, the young man appeared to be saved by the gentle care and love of a woman, who gave him the motivation to become a better man for. He finished his education, began focusing on the theater which he was a natural for, got engaged and was to be a father.  Then he killed most of his friends at a bachelor party trip to a lodge, in true classic horror fashion.  

His fiance cut ties with him and he was carted off to prison with a life sentence. He wouldn't be there long though as the research organization DEVIL was looking for volunteers to join their ranks. As test subjects. Him and a hand few of others were brought to Facility 66, hoping for a more comfortable life, or perhaps an ending to it. Despite all odds and all the painful, confusing and deadly experiments the test subjects were put through, Mr. Amherst would survive each and every single one of them.  

His 'good luck' lasted him all the way until the DAMMED recruits were brought to the facility, and since Mr. Friedmann had canceled the continued use of inmates as human test subjects he became the last remaining relic of the facilities darker times. Forced to essentially blend with the recruits despite at the time not having a partner and being perhaps a good deal more criminally insane than his new colleagues.  

The human was given new purpose though when the war broke out. Returning into him a drive and will to live that had entirely vanished before. He wanted to help, for his own reasons of course, but with so little resources and the need for every hand they could, they reluctantly put him to work. His unique set of skills and sudden determination to the cause was undeniably useful though. So the other was set up to bond, which he reluctantly agreed to, wanting to be of more use even if it cost him an extended life.

It would be a lifespan he would need though, since the war lasted 90 years. Dwyn leading nearly all of it's subterfuge missions with a natural talent that distanced him to many of the other officers. Now that his mission is over though, the war at an end and his past crimes pardoned, he still remains questioningly loyal to his company.
